Mold Making Classes

One of the best ways to learn mold making is to participate in a Hands-On Mold Making Class. Periodically, we schedule mold making classes usually in conjunction with a show or craft event. Sometimes, depending on the facilities available, mold making classes will be a demonstration of mold making principles but when possible, we specialize in extensive hands on classes where you will learn by doing. Master Mold Making Class

Title: Master Mold Making Class

When: March 26th, 2012 9am- 5pm

Where: Comfort Inn University Center in Fairfax, VA

Master the art of making sugar bottles and sugar glassware by attending this comprehensive, hands-on class where you will be expertly guided through every step of this amazing mold making process.

This class will be held the day after the National Capital Area Cake Show on Monday, March 26th, 2012.

Here's How It Works

When registering for the class you will have the opportunity to choose one of the molds below you want to make.

Beer Bottle Mold | Wine Bottle Mold | Champagne Glass Mold | Wine Glass Mold

We call this a "four in one" learning method where by you choose one project but learn how to make all four styles that will be taught simultaneously.

All materials and supplies will be provided along with Chef Dominic Palazzolo's professional instruction and guidance. In this class, you will make your own mold to take home with you. You will learn how to properly prepare your bottle or glassware for the mold making process, how to build the necessary structures to hold silicone while it cures and how to accurately mix liquid silicone and pour it correctly for the best results. While the molds are curing, Chef Dominic will demonstrate how to cook , hold, pour, and store Isomalt. You will learn how to make bottles, glassware, and other lovely things from Isomalt as time allows. Return home with your very own completed mold and the ability to make these popular and sought-after sugar creations.

Drink your coffee. Eat your Wheaties. Come prepared for a full day of hands on learning. Only 50 slots are available for this class. There will be plenty of helpers to assist you with your project.

Students will purchase one of four kits at the time of class registration (beer bottle, wine bottle, champagne glass, wine glass). Included in the kit are all supplies needed for class

If you are a member of ICES choose class: "Dominic Palazzolo-Master Mold Making Class- Member" then Select which mold you want to purchase. At this time you will be choosing which mold you will make in class. And the cost of the kit will be automatically be added to your class fee.

If you are not yet a member of ICES choose class: "Dominic Palazzolo-Master Mold Making Class-Non-Member" then Select which mold you want to purchase. At this time you will be choosing which mold you will make in class. And the cost of the kit will be automatically be added to your class fee.

Title: The Nuts and Bolts of Mold Making

When: Saturday March 24, 2012 8am-11am

Where: National Capital Area Cake Show 2012 Annadale, VA

Master the art of mold making with Chef Dominic Palazzolo. You will be creating molds you can take home of nuts, botls, and gears: perfect for those men's cakes we never know how to decorate, and the new Steampunk cake craze. You will learn many mold making techniques that can be applied to an endless variety of mold making projects.
